FORD 6000CD

The issue which I came across with the Ford 6000cd was a problem with the radio randomly muting,the sound would disappear and the word "phone" would appear on the radio display.It started to happen now and again but overtime it became more frequent until I could not hear any sound at all.
       Investigating this problem I found that many people had the similar fault with their ford 6000cd radio which made it clear that it was an internal fault in the radio rather than a wiring issue in the car or a loose connection on the back of the radio. So on with magnifying glasses and a scope in the other hand I dismantled the radio and with the help of a schematic diagram and a lot of patience found some components that looked like they had perhaps overheated and so damaged themselves. Finding replacement parts was difficult and in the end I manage to locate a part of equivalent value which fitted the location. I then left the radio on our test bench for two days and the "phone" message never came back and the sound was never interrupted again.One final test was done in the car and the Ford 6000cd has worked perfectly for 6 weeks now so I can confidently say it's fixed!!
